The 2020 Senior High School Entrance Examination is around the corner. In order to make the students in Anqing Foreign Language School conduct review and sprint for the exam in a more positive attitude with fuller state and more scientific methods, school leaders and teachers gathered strength and successively carried out two professional guidance lectures following the three brilliant and effective seminars in early June.
To be specific, on the afternoon of 24th June, Director Zhang Li of the Teaching Department in the west campus held a special lecture about English writing in the Senior High School Entrance Exam entitled ‘Know the enemy and know yourself and you can fight a hundred battles with no danger of defeat’ in the first-floor Lecture Hall. During the lecture, Director Zhang Li concisely analyzed the form and trend of composition proposition from three aspects as follows: the key points, literary form and requirements of composition in the Senior High School Entrance Examination. In addition, Director Zhang Li pointed out and emphasized that whatever types of literature in the composition of the Senior High School Entrance Exam, students should focus on hot issues, which were not only close to students’ own life, but also led students to grasp the lifeline of the composition. On this basis, Director Zhang Li also taught scientific writing methods-- the secret of four steps in analyzing the questions, which aimed to guide students to get high marks in writing. Therefore, the scientific methods in writing earned a reputation for improving writing skills! Evidently, this lecture started with examining the topic, instructed students to lay emphasis on the details in writing, and flexibly applied various ways to help students obtain high marks, which benefited students a lot.
Moreover, on the morning of 28th June at the first-floor Lecture Hall, top teacher Xu Lihong from Anqing Foreign Language School set up a psychological counseling lecture 15 days before the Senior High School Entrance Exam with the title of ‘Press on to the finish without letup and achieve immediate victory’. Xu Lihong interpreted how to adjust mental attitude, how to give up unnecessary worries, anxiety, fear and other negative emotions, how to correctly deal with possible problems before and during the exam as well as how to confidently and happily face challenges in the Senior High School Entrance Examination and in life so that students could understand that proper pressure contributed to enhancing learning efficiency and if they keep on, they will succeed in time. Thus, the pre-exam psychological counseling effectively alleviated students' tension and anxiety before the test, which played a regulating role in relaxing students’ mind, aroused students’ enthusiasm in the Senior High School Entrance Exam and helped them re-establish confidence in the Senior High School Entrance Examination.
These two pre-exam instruction lectures were just like a timely rain, which sent coolness to students in the sultry and agitated summer so that students could smell the freshness after the rain and continue to sprint in high spirits; On the other hand, the pre-exam guidance lectures seemed like a beam of morning light, dispelling the fog on students’ way ahead, clearing the immediate obstacles, and helping them to proceed with confidence to sprint for the Senior High School Entrance Examination in a firm pace.
In conclusion, the horn of the exam has been blown. Thus, let all of our teachers and students work together and strive hard to compose beautiful youth and marvellous Anqing Foreign Language School with excellent marks. We will win the Senior High School Entrance Examination in 2020!
